Where to Donate Yarn


Some places to donate yarn: 

Disco Fibers Local Portland start-up yarn re-sale company specializing in re-selling gently used and stashed yarn. People who live in Portland or surrounding areas can arrange a pick-up or drop off with the company. Outside the area, yarn can be mailed. Click the link for more information!

**Project Linus accepts washable yarns. Donations must be approved by your local Chapter Coordinator. Please contact them for more info.

**ReclaimIt  is in Portland. Seeks to keep things out of the landfill. They make art/welcome volunteer artists to make treasures out of trash. Donations must be approved and is a bit strict, but they will take yarn when it is donated with the intention of keeping things out of the landfill. Details on the site.


**SCRAP PDX is in Portland takes up to 3 grocery bags per donation, days to donate on the site. Goal is accessibility/inclusivity/affordability in crafting. 


**St John the Evangelist Church - Local - Vancouver, WA. Takes yarn for their prayer shawl ministry. They accept donations of acrylic/washable yarn in muted colors (no pink/purple/brights etc). They prefer earthtones. They provide 250 prayer shawls per year. Anyone can walk into the church office and request one. They go to hospice care patients, people who are lonely/vets (the make lap blankets too), and are given to families at funerals.
